In this increasingly globalizing world, Thimphu is becoming similar to a lot of cities around the world. The city is slowly experiencing a great tension between what is modern versus traditional. Development in many ways has disregarded the local culture and traditions and placed a greater emphasis on introducing the west. In an effort to revive the lost tales from the eastern parts of Bhutan, Tshering and a team of artists will work to bring oral stories into life with the beautiful colors of the land and its people. Moving forward, the young people of Bhutan need to rediscover the art of storytelling and appreciate the multi-faceted stories of their ancestors and the natural world around them. Through this project, Bhutanese children will be able to recognize the characters and the scenes from the books, as they will draw upon long-standing Bhutanese aesthetics and culture.
